Our philosophy is pretty simple, mechanics first and the velocity will follow. We believe that proper mechanics must be a vital part of the pitcher's learning process as they excel in baseball. As there are some instructors around town that focus on velocity first, the potential for injury is more evident without stressing the importance of mechanics. With 250+ pitching students over 5 years and numerous high school students around the Las Vegas valley, our approach to pitching is quickly becoming the staple for pitching instruction and those pitchers aiming to have what it takes to be 'on the bump.'
Key factors of our pitching philosophy
- 5 points of the delivery
- Staying on top of the ball
- Build and use momentum in the delivery
- Effectively finish and follow through
- Balance is a key factor to having control

Our Hitting & Catching philosophies are the same ones used in collegiate baseball programs around the country.
Hitting philosophy
- Here at On the Bump, our philosophy is to make hitting as simple as possible. We will work on your approach, hands, balance, and tips to get you into the hitting position. Also, we will work on rythm and timing and how to use your whole body and especially your legs and hips in the swing. We will do drills to accomadate each batter's needs. Bottom line is you must work at your craft if you plan on getting to where you want to be in this game.

Catching philosophy
You have to catch the ball first before you can do anything else. Baseball cannot be played without the ball.
- Stance - a comfortable stance enables a person to do all aspects of catching
- Receiving - catchers can make a bad pitcher look good; or make a good pitcher look bad
- Blocking/throwing - this is the same as "drive for show and putt for doe" blocking wins and loses games; throwing out runners does help, it's more for the show
